Why jump on it is important
founded by Charles “NOOK Turner” Byrd, Dorothy Turner & Sharon Ellerby in 1997
Jump On It specifically unites youth and their families under the auspices of live national & local entertainment. It is an experience that highlights the arts as well as the availability of valuable health & life resources.
Our vision is to maintain and uplifting community through positive expression that embodies the authentic origination of Black Austin culture. Our mission is to curate events that cater to Black Austin. These events allow our audiences to celebrate and embrace Black culture. We utilize these events as a tool to offer our educational programming. This is possible because we incentivize Jump On It University participants with exclusive access to meeting artist, celebrities and other perks. Throughout the years we have focused on financial literacy, access to wealth, police interaction, self-empowerment and overall community building. The sole purpose of our events is to offer education and resources under the auspices of a fun, entertaining social gathering.
